The good Doctor accidentally rammed a stone support column of the classic rusticated 1906 masonry structure last summer. The impact was so great that officials and staffers working inside thought there was another '06 earthquake. We collaborated with the City's Development Services Director Wayne Wirick and M.K.M. structural engineer, Bud Malmanis and assisted with the design, implementation and project management for the repair/restoration, all while keeping City offices open for business.
A few of the large stones were shattered and replacements turned out to be impossible to find. City staff and local historians attempted to ascertain the original quarry location, but to no avail. We contacted Stone Veneer by McIntyre Mfg. to manufacture replacement pieces and incredibly the match was exactingly perfect. A steel column was also added within the rebuilt masonry column.
